The 51st Annual California Physical Education Workshop "Beyond 2000: The Dawning of a New Millennium": is scheduled for July 9 &endash; 14 and July 16-21, 2000 at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Here's what your colleagues have to say about the California Physical Education Workshop:

Attending the California Physical Education Workshop at Cal Poly continues to be the most positive, productive and supportive experience for my professional and personal growth. Summer after summer I charge up my batteries with new ideas, renewed enthusiasm, and a reality check! No matter what is going on in our district or schools, what happens between teacher and students is where we really make a difference. I am thankful for the tremendous teachers and participants involved with Cal Poly. It has helped make a difference.

The format with one teacher all week vs. the "one day only" model is a time for genuine bonding. It is the only workshop I know of with this format. Give-take, caring, sharing, and having feelings for another human being &endash; it's a week that people will never forget. It's the ART of teaching you take back, rather than how to play a game.

I feel very positive about this workshop because it gave me a lot of ideas in terms of how to align standards with assessment and hot to use them in my day to day class activities.

As a University professor I value the quality experience I have gained from attending th4e Cal Poly Physical Education Workshop. Since transitioning to higher education, it had been 15 years since I taught in the public school system. The outstanding staff at the Cal Poly Workshops I have attended the past four years have kept me in touch with innovative teaching methods, the latest coaching techniques, new directions in curriculum planning, and advances in technology wit suggestions for practical application. In turn, I can now provide this up-to-date information to the Physical Education majors I work with at the University level.

The love, the friendship, and what I have learned here I will take to the people of my country. I feel like I am born again. I am with people here who think like me and who are like me. I feel like I am here with my family. Leaving workshop leaves me with the same sadness as when I leave my family. I will take the people I met with me in my heart. I want to tell all the people in South America how wonderful this workshop is.

I had no idea what to expect. This workshop went way beyond my expectations, mentally, physically, and spiritually. It's been such a positive experience in so many ways. It benefited me professionally and personally.
|
This workshop has been the most inspiring and rewarding experience of my life. I will take everything I have learned and the hearts of each wonderful person I mete back to Georgia.
|
This workshop totally motivated me to go back and improve my program in Kuwait. You come to Workshop and you are surrounded by excellence. This is what pushes you to become the best you can be. I can't wait to get back, start implementing changes, and tap into the resources I picked up at Cal Poly.
