Biography
What a career I've had!
29 years now..... mostly in San Diego Unified School District at the
middle school level. I teach 6th grade physical education at Horace
Mann Middle School in inner city San Diego. I have been a master
teacher, a mentor teacher, a program and curriculum coordinator, a
grant writer, a physical education consultant and have presented or
trained teachers at over 100 workshops and conferences in the past 9
years. I was fortunate enough to be a lecturer in the Teacher
Education program at Cal Poly State University, Pomona for one year
and also served in a administrative leadership position with the
Walker Education Foundation in Jackson, MS., 1994-96. The highlights
of my professional career center around this wonderful
workshop&emdash;24 consecutive summers!! In 1982, I was the assistant
director, 1987, the Director. I have been on Committee for 23 years,
and on Instructional Staff for more years than I can remember--
beginning with a bicycling class in 1979! I am honored to be a part
of the first workshop of the new millennium!
In this class "no one is
left out" ! Our creative physical education curriculum emphasizes
inclusive, non-traditional and non-competitive challenges and games.
We change the rules, change the equipment and even the name of the
game to meet the needs of the students that we teach. This class will
give participants an opportunity to experience a variety of
self-esteem activities, wild and crazy games, "energizers" and
low-stress/high success challenges. Workshoppers will learn how to
organize and participate in The Giant Relay and Circle Time. We will
present games like Hoop Baseball, Four Ball Soccer, Ten Pass, Darth
Vadar, Anklebiters and Asteroids, Bowling Pin Basketball, and more.
Revitalize yourself and your program! Learn how to make equipment,
build student confidence and be a star in your classroom. We invite
you to join us for a great week
of sharing, fun, "happies", and personal growth.
